The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land

We have a responsibility. This is a remarkable thing about democracy, that we are notified by mail to come down to this place and decide on the guilt or innocence of a man we have not known before. We have nothing to gain or lose by our verdict.

My son, beware of anything beyond these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is a weariness of the flesh.

The man’s name was Elimelek, his wife’s name was Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Kilion. They were Ephrathites from Bethlehem, Judah. And they went to Moab and lived there.

Damn straight, Moab is gorgeous! You could live there for years and never see all the best sites in the Arches or the other parks, the Green River, the snowcapped mountains. Terrific restaurants all over the place too.

We were visiting the cliff dwellings in Arizona or someplace like that. I was 8 or so at the time. I turned around to look at something, and when I turned back, the rest of my family had left. So I started wandering around looking for them. I ended up on a tour of the cliff dwellings with some tour group, climbing up and down the ladders, etc. When the tour group returned to museum, I found my parents frantically looking for me. I got in trouble for wandering off. Then I had to go on the same damn tour again with my family. My only consolation was that my older sister, who always picked on me, was afraid of heights, so going up and down the ladders was torture for her but amusing for me.

Ugh. Traveling for work today has not been smooth. I was supposed to arrive in San Fran before noon their time, and as of right now it looks like I won't be arriving until around 7:30 tonight their time. And by the time I pick up the rental car and drive to the hotel, it'll be 9:00 or later. And my nice, Comfort+ aisle seats have become whatever's-available-we-don't-care-if-your-knees-are-in-your-chest standby seating.

Oh damn! Was that the one where Brendan Fraser spent 25 years in a backyard nuclear bunker, but his dad only stocked it with Mountain Dew? I thought Alicia Silverstone was incredible in that.

You're thinking of Encino Blast. Baja Blast from the Past was the one where Rodney Dangerfield goes back to school. They later changed the title to something else, but I can't remember what.

I can’t eat muffins in an agitated manner. The butter would probably get on my cuffs. One should always eat muffins quite calmly. It is the only way to eat them.

I can't eat butter in an agitated manner, or any manner. I'm allergic to dairy.
