This song was stuck in my head first thing as I woke up. And I think this is one of the most inspiring, empowering songs to exist.

Ha, I missed this before but it's adorable. Damn right people need a cheering section for trying and failing!
All of my non internet friends are deeply obsessed with Chappell Roan, apparently much like the rest of the world, so I'm investigating and will report back.

Who told him that it mattered?
Who told him anyone cares?

Apologies if I have posted this before but the entire world has suddenly decided this is the best thing in the world! I don't think it's the best thing on the earth, by quite some margin, but it's pretty darn good:

I don't know if I realized this already and forgot, due to some sort of brain deterioration or damage, or if today actually is the first day I figured out that Miguel in this song is the Miguel in other songs! Miguel apparently has been around forever but I was not fully cognizant. I had classified this somehow as a song related to Spider-Man movies. I don't even know if that's true.

I have been listening to this on the radio for a while now, and whenever my kids were in the car they would bust out the Macarena and I was like, oh, y'all just doing the macarena to this huh? They said no, it's more like the YMCA. I said okay, YMCA, macarena, it all works. Today I find out there's a specific reason they're doing this! In the video!

I was concerned about the overall wholesomeness of this music, but here in September of 2024 we have finally reached the place where I think I've given up on caring about wholesomeness. I really did put a big effort into it for much of the lives of these children. I didn't feel like they should be exposed to certain things prior to the explanation and context. Some things just sounded rude coming out of the mouth of a toddler... (I didn't teach her those AC/DC lyrics, they picked it up at preschool, no lie!) But now they're old enough and past the point where I just give up. I yield. There's nothing they haven't heard something about, probably, and they're telling me things I've never heard, so... My baby child was on the video game chat earlier mocking his friends for saying the F word when they died... It's like he came full circle and is now a small adult who mockingly corrects the potty mouth of the other kids. I'm tired, I'm done working. Also this is pretty harmless, even the grandparents are in on it:

That was refreshing!
It also reminds me that its that time of year again...when we enjoy our FAVORITE SPORT:
Marching Band Season!

I dug up a clip from my daughter's 2017 marching band season.

Ah the memories...

Marching band season is one of my favorite sports too! Very pleasant video. I'm hopeful that this year we will get a good performance... I haven't seen much of the finished product yet due to work.

I'm posting this as a reminder that I have another karaoke song. Don't forget about this when the moment comes. Yes it's bon Jovi and yes it's motley Crue but it's also this. I've never done karaoke before and I have to train my voice because people keep threatening to assemble at a karaoke place. I cannot sing, at all. But I feel like I'm going to make up for that with Positive Mental Attitude:

I don't like this link because I feel like I should be getting it from his page but I couldn't figure it out. Ah well. I'm working hard on all of my Spotify hip hop lists and this needed to go on it.

Amused by listening to the right wing radio hosts celebrate the fact that Chapell Roan would not endorse Harris because I guess Chappell is too pro-Palestinian or further left or something. Well well well. They found themselves strangely intrigued by her music even though it has something to do with the LGBT, which let's be clear they are okay with! They just don't want gay people to get married or have kids but if they want to sing songs that's fine, let it be known! Especially if they're not going to support Harris because she's too much of an establishment moderate Democrat. But the costumes Chappell wears performing on stage are pretty weird... Not sure what to make of those costumes. Comedy.

Update: the right winger fascination with Chappell Roan continues! What? Why? I don't know. I think they are attracted to her and have an excuse to talk about it due to this whole "didn't endorse Harris" thing. But they are suspicious that she might be LGBT so a strain of worry arises in the conversation... is it OK for them to be a fan? The songs are catchy and she can sing... is that OK to admit? Do these people have a google? Can they decide on their own or must they wait for some sort of group email to give the talking points for the day?

This has been in my Spotify liked rotation so long that I forgot what it was and started to think they were singing/rapping in Polish. They are not! I feel less stupid for not understanding the words now. Apparently it's Mongolian. Google translate is only a partial help. Love this though!

Could be the pre-election feeling of dull, heavy anxiety but whatever the reason, I'm in a new era of mellow, with a SZA playlist and sounds to fall asleep to if proper caution is not taken. It's weird to feel so unhappy about what is going on in the country, and the news, and the office politics, and the pointless meeting, but then nevertheless, so joyful about the possibilities! the essential life activities! the lovely sights and new sounds, the many little things making each day delightful. Trying to focus on that. Gratitude!

You can complain about this guy being soft and running away from a rap battle but I never will! I am told he wrote this song for his 9 months pregnant wife, who by the way is adorable! Why aren't those crackpot Jordan rogans of the world preaching this message?! A real man is located:

RM!!!
Nobody informed me! I was out of the state, out of the country, deep in books, Google told me nothing... I find this only when listening to new Jin album!
I love this, it's so unusual yet amusing!

I was listening to this today and suddenly thunderstruck by the lyrics taking on a whole new meaning in the "mid life" stages:
"I don't care about the cold baby cause when you're hot, you're too much... When you're hot you're hot!" I KNOW! But how did you know?! This man has seen things and gained wisdom. He knows that this time of year we love to run outside around 6:00 p.m. to let the hot steam float right off of our burning skin - ahhh! Refreshing and better than trying to step into the refrigerator, especially now that it's the type with a freezer on the lower side! People are saying it's cold and I'm running around in a t-shirt and shorts and thinking it might be an ideal time to plunge into the lake. That's how it is at this age. And now another theme song enters the frame, with such insight:
