Well, to be fair it's Tolkien, and we don't always know the sex or gender of various creatures and personages who might be warring or otherwise living their lives (ahem spiders), and Peter Jackson did go way out of his way to play up two women characters who otherwise were not that important in the book. I can't believe I'm defending this. Never mind, I have a headache and I think I'm dying so whatever, The world is s***.
