Re: Check- up?
I have asthma (very well controlled, as long as I take my preventive med), so I'm susceptible to pneumonia causing severe respiratory problems if I do catch it. And having been hospitalized once a long, long time ago because of pneumonia and asthma complications, I don't ever want to repeat that.

Re: Check- up?
I tried to get my flu and COVID shots at a pharmacy a few weekends ago, but my insurance wouldn't cover it. So I had to wait until during my annual physical that had been scheduled months ago for a Monday morning. And I didn't even know that would happen until they asked me at the start of the visit...

Re: Check- up?
I had a checkup yesterday, where I got 3 shots (flu, COVID, pneumonia), gave blood, and had a foot x-ray to make sure I don't have a stress fracture (I don't, just some tendonitis from running). Slept like crap because both shoulders hurt from the shots and I'm a side sleeper, so I couldn't get comf...

Since I'm the same age cohort as you two, and watched the same Saturday morning cartoons growing up, I visualize it as cartoon sheep jumping over a fence as well. Although I do love your sons idea of laying down in the field and the sheep jumping over him.

Re: Books we read in 2023
The Long Earth -- Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter Absolutely addictive. Couldn't stop listening. It's flawed in a bunch of small ways, but it's such a huge ambitious effort that sucked me in and let me ignore all that. And this is book one of a series (a series of five so far, I think), and it's...

Re: Murderbot's back!
I've read a couple of her non-MurderBot series and they were pretty good. The The Books of the Raksura series has a few things that may be a bit more on the mature side in terms of sex (nothing explicit), so may be more for teen and older. The Ile-Rien-related books ( here and here ) were also good....

Re: Passwords
I use LastPass as a password manager, similar to Kyle's. So for websites, each site has a unique, complex, machine-generated password. I also have to create logins for accessing my clients' networks, and each one has a different policy for how often passwords need to be changed, complexity, etc. (i....

Good luck! Take it easy to start, and slowly build up in intensity and distance, and you should do fine. If/when injuries happen, ease off and give your body time to recover.

There's a big difference between training dogs for search and rescue and training them to be attack dogs, usually including which dogs are used for which type of work. How convenient that Ethan's SARS dogs happen to be dual-purpose dogs.

Side note- I don't know much about tracking dogs, but if Jade's been wearing the jacket all day, aren't the dogs just going to lead them to Jade, who will be standing like three feet away? I do leave a tip for the hotel cleaning staff. Like Phoebe, it's changed in recent years. It used to be about $5 each day when they would clean the room. Now that they only clean the room once per stay, it's usually $5 per stay at the end of the stay, since they have the same amount of work to do as...

Re: What Are You Watching?
The new Dungeons and Dragons movie with Chris Pine. I enjoyed it for what it was. It’s not going to do for RPG movies what Iron Man did to superhero movies. But it was much, much better than previous D&D movies have been. With a nice nod to the classic D&D cartoon thrown in, as well.
